A song about sacrifice. We all spend our lives chasing something & we all give up parts of ourselves every single day to get it. Sacrificing your freedom to work and pay bills, Your money to do things you want, your time to spend with the ones you love. Everything comes at a cost.
I wrote this song about the erratic and sometimes nonsensical thoughts that ring through my head in pursuit of chasing my dreams while trying to remain balanced in my regular life. Its something thats become increasingly important to me in the last couple years
& Along with that idea these images kept popping up when i would write and work on the track, Nostalgic memories of Shel Silverstein covers and beautiful little poems. i really loved those books as a kid and especially the messages inside them, it felt appropriate to inject a little bit of that art style into the cover & i could honestly talk endlessly about the cacophony of meanings ive assigned to it. i think its better for me to leave it up to your interpretation after hearing the song in full.

Tree sap is essentially the blood of a tree, it moves nutrients and helps produce energy while new buds are forming in different parts of the branch and its integral in the sustained growth of a tree.
i used to be fueled and propelled by my vices, in a way it felt like they kept me going by keeping me numb from everything, and more importantly it kept that gnawing feeling of regret at bay
Regret is a major theme in this one, wether its purposefully ignoring my dads calls or spending too much time focused on the wrong things
Dealing with regret has played an integral part in the making of this next project, ive learned to accept its something you cant avoid or change,
Fully embracing who you are in the present despite the decisions you made in the past is the only way to truly move forward

This track was originally called epiphany before i realized how much of what i was rapping about correlated to nature
& the idea that the growth you want to receive is directly linked to the effort you put in
Until i realized that feeling wasnt supposed to be holding me back,
ive since learned to take that feeling and use it to my advantage, and its given me energy during this new phase of growth

+ ASKEW EP (SCENIC ROUTE)
We dropped the Askew EP October 19th 2023 on all platforms. SMEB and I worked extremely hard on the rollout, mixes, masters and general direction of the project for months
“Creating the fictional location of “Askew trails” was an integral part of the rollout, that really was the missing piece. from there the ship kind of steered itself”
The Scenic Route version of the EP came to fruition pretty quickly after the release of the OG. Thunderous was originally a drumless track & so was War Paint. I was kind of married to these versions but once I heard SMEBS drums I knew It was probably for the best.
As the idea formed to release instrumental versions of the tracks came to be, adding those two versions felt very natural and im glad we did it.

The time and dedication that he put into these covers is unmatched by anyone ive ever worked with and im lucky to call him a friend.

BUBBLEGUM PINK
November 2021, the final episode of LROM as a weekly series, & with that comes the release of LEMONHEAD, A woozy late night track that single handedly brought the sour candy back from the brink of irrelevancy.
This song is unlike anything i’ve made before or since, SEVENS (PROD.) sent me this beat while I was Tennessee and It was a completely different version of it with drums, After the song was made they had the brilliant idea to take them off & it completely changed the vibe of the song that actually fits the lyrics alot better than the original
I loved playing around with a different style for this one & it was truly reflective of the place i was in mentally. drowning my anxieties in vices and work, putting all of my worth into other people only to be left alone. LEMONHEAD was the transition into the new era in more ways than one and ill always be grateful for it
